USDA Rural Business-Cooperative Service is offering grants to improve the economic conditions of rural areas by providing technical assistance that will enhance the operation of rural transportation systems.

In the case of this program, technical assistance is defined as a function performed for the benefit of a private business enterprise or a community and which is a problem solving activity, such as market research, product and/or service improvement, and feasibility study to assist in the transportation needs and economic development of a rural area.

USDA encourages applicants to consider projects that will advance the agency's priorities:

• Domestic manufacturing and industrial capacity
• Domestic energy production and energy
• New and expanded markets for American farmers and rural producers
• Program integrity, including the prevention and reduction of fraud and waste

Applicants must be qualified national organizations with experience in providing technical assistance and training to rural communities nationwide for the purpose of improving passenger transportation services or facilities.

Award ceiling: $650,000
Project period: October 1, 2026 - September 30, 2027
Estimated number of awards: 5
Estimated total program funding: $995,500
