Purpose

The Mississippi State Loan Repayment Program offers loan repayment for eligible health professionals who serve in areas of Mississippi with provider shortages.

Participants must practice at least 2 years at an approved public or private healthcare organization in the state.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants are allopathic (MD) and osteopathic (DO) medicine physicians in the specialties listed below. Applicants must be United States citizens or nationals with qualifying educational loans.

  • Family medicine
  • Internal medicine
  • Pediatrics
  • Obstetrics and Gynecology
  • Geriatrics
  • Psychiatry

Eligible practice sites:

  • Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs)
  • FQHC Look-A-Likes
  • Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Certified Rural Health Clinics
  • Indian Health Service Facilities, Tribally Operated 638 Health Programs, and Urban Indian Health Programs
  • Correctional and detention facilities
  • Private practices (solo and group)
  • Community outpatient facilities
  • Community mental health facilities
  • State and county health department clinics
  • Immigrations and Customs Enforcement Health Service Corps
  • Free clinics
  • Mobile units
  • School-based programs
  • Critical Access Hospitals affiliated with a qualified outpatient clinic
  • State mental health facilities
  • Rural Emergency Hospitals affiliated with a qualified outpatient clinic
