Purpose

The Texas Rural Hospital Officers Academy is a leadership-based educational opportunity designed to support rural hospital officers who are navigating financial pressure, workforce shortages, operational complexity, and evolving healthcare regulations while providing essential healthcare to their communities.

Through the program, participants will:

  • Strengthen financial decision-making
  • Improve operational sustainability
  • Navigate complex regulatory environments
  • Learn strategies tailored to rural healthcare settings
  • Build relationships with peers across East Texas

Training areas include:

  • Healthcare finance and revenue optimization
  • Financial sustainability strategies
  • Operational efficiency in resource-constrained environments
  • Regulatory and compliance navigation
  • Strategic leadership for rural hospital sustainability
  • Peer collaboration and executive networking
Eligibility

The Academy is designed for leaders responsible for financial, operational, and strategic decision-making in rural healthcare organizations.

Ideal participants:

  • Chief executive officers
  • Chief financial officers
  • Chief operating officers
  • Senior healthcare executives
  • Rural hospital board members

Priority consideration may be given to:

  • Hospitals receiving financial stabilization or hardship support
  • Rural Emergency Hospitals or hospitals pursuing designation
  • Organizations experiencing executive leadership transition
  • Sole hospitals serving their county

There is no cost to participants for the course, travel, lodging, or food.
