Purpose

The Kansas Medical Student Loan (KMSL) program offers loans and loan forgiveness designed to help students cover the cost of medical school in exchange for agreements to practice medicine in Kansas after residency.

Eligibility

Medical school students in Kansas are eligible to apply. Students who did not have a Kansas Medical Student Loan for all of the years they were enrolled can apply for the loan retroactively for the years they did not receive it.

The program provides payment of tuition and a stipend for living expenses up to $2,000 a month.

Contact financialaid@kumc.edu to request the appropriate application information.

The primary care deadline is March 1 for incoming first-year students, and the psychiatry deadline is September 30 for all applicants (M1-M4).
