Virginia Youth Substance Use Prevention Grants

The Virginia Foundation for Healthy Youth is offering grants to support youth substance use prevention instruction in Virginia.
Applicants may apply to provide any of eight approved prevention programs for children and youth ranging from PreK through 12th grade. Each program requires long-term engagement, occurring over the course of multiple sessions. Instruction may be delivered in a classroom setting, through small-group discussions, or in other appropriate instructional settings.
Eligibility criteria:
- Nonprofit, for-profit, governmental, and charitable organizations operating in Virginia are eligible to apply, regardless of location within the Commonwealth.
- Applicants must implement at least one evidence-based program included in the curriculum guide ( approved prevention programs).
- Eligible programs must serve youth defined as individuals under age 18, as well as 18-year-olds who are still enrolled in high school.
- Applicants must plan to serve at least 200 youth per year through approved programming.
Award ceiling: Up to $50,000 a year for
a total of $150,000
Project period: 3 years

$6,000,000
