Kansas Non-Emergency Transportation (NEMT) Program Grants
Funded by the Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP), the Non-Emergency Transportation (NEMT) Program offers grants to support innovative, sustainable local transportation solutions to help rural Kansans reach medical appointments without duplicating existing services eligible for reimbursement. By improving access to timely care, the program is designed to prevent manageable health issues from becoming emergencies and reduce pressure on rural emergency departments and health systems.
Objectives:
- Increase accessibility of transportation options in rural areas
- Improve patient outcomes and satisfaction
- Improve patient adherence to non-emergent plans of care
- Evaluation of the amount of appointments/care that would otherwise be missed or delayed
- Other approved objectives as proposed by applicant
Awardees must use funds for the development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of NEMT program activities in accordance with Kansas RHTP and project requirements. Funding cannot be used to replace currently reimbursable services, but may be used to supplement existing services or to create new approaches.
Any Kansas-based organization that provides, or will provide, transportation services in a rural area may apply for funding. Applicants must possess a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI), Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN), and State of Kansas SMART Vendor ID to be considered.
