May 17, 2023 - U.S. Senator Roger Marshall of Kansas and Sen. Welch of Vermont introduced the ReConnect Rural America Act, legislation that helps to promote rural communities' access to high-speed broadband. Lack of accessibility to internet service leaves community members with less access to good-paying jobs, isolation from markets, and lack of healthcare provider technologies.

May 10, 2023 - A naloxone vending machine will be placed at a rural health center in Vermont, giving access to the medication for free, 24 hours a day. The community worked to find a machine after a local resident died from an opioid overdose. For the third year in a row, Vermont set a record for opioid overdose deaths in 2022.
