Purpose

The Illinois National Health Service Corps State Loan Repayment Program offers loan repayment assistance for primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurse midwives, dentists, and psychiatrists who agree to serve in a Health Professional Shortage Area of Illinois.

Applicants must agree to serve for a minimum of 2 years, and can extend the service contract up to 4 years.

Eligibility

Eligible professions include:

  • Primary care physicians
    • Family practice
    • Internal medicine
    • General pediatrics
    • Obstetrics and gynecology
  • Nurse practitioners
  • Physician assistants
  • Nurse midwives
  • Dentists
  • Psychiatrists

Amount of funding

Maximum repayment amount: $50,000

Sites must contribute up to $12,500 per year.
