Illinois Nursing Education Scholarship Program
The Nursing Education Scholarship Program aims to increase the supply of nurses in Illinois. Scholarships are offered to Illinois residents who face financial barriers to pursuing nursing education and who wish to work in the state following completion of their education.
The program is open to qualified individuals pursuing an associate's degree in nursing, a hospital-based diploma in nursing, a baccalaureate degree in nursing, a graduate degree in nursing, or a certificate in practical nursing. Scholarship recipients must fulfill a service obligation within the state.
Applicants must be:
- A resident of Illinois for at least 1 year prior to application, and be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident
- Enrolled in or accepted for admission to an approved nursing program in Illinois
- In need of financial assistance based on the applicant’s Student Aid Report
Amounts vary based on the type of education pursued. Tuition is paid directly to the school financial aid office. Stipends for living expenses will be mailed directly to students.
