Purpose

The Dental Faculty Loan Repayment Program provides funding to increase the number of dental and dental hygiene faculty in the workforce by assisting training programs to attract and retain full-time faculty through loan repayment programs.

Program goals include:

  • Reduce educational debt for dentists and dental hygienists in exchange for full-time employment as faculty
  • Encourage long-term employment in a dental academic setting through loan repayment
  • Promote faculty development and advancement through mentoring and other institution-supported activities

Applicants are encouraged to consider activities that provide care to and meet the oral health needs of rural and medically vulnerable populations when selecting individual loan repayment recipients. Additional loan repayment program requirements are available in the application instructions.
