Purpose

This program will provide seed grants designed for enhancing the ability of land grant institutions to positively influence the quality of life in rural areas in the north central region.

Priority areas include:

  • Creating resilient communities and economies
  • Developing leadership and civic engagement
  • Promoting community health and wellness

Project types include, but are not limited to:

  • Development of proposals for major funding from a federal agency or foundation
  • Presentations of results on emerging issues of importance to rural areas in the region through academic and popular venues such as journal articles, white papers, blogs, webinars, and/or new communications technologies
  • Organized conferences and proceedings relevant to topical rural development issues in the region
  • Development or piloting of Extension curricula aimed at enhancing the system's ability to develop, deliver and evaluate programming

Examples of past projects

Eligibility

Eligible applicants include current faculty and staff of land grant institutions (LGIs) in the north central region (NCR) and their partners.

Geographic coverage
The 12 states in the north central region.
Amount of funding

Award ceiling: Single PI proposal budgets may not exceed $25,000. Proposals with two or more Co-PIs may not exceed $40,000.
Project period: 1 year
