The South Dakota Tobacco Control Program provides grants to schools and organizations that work with youth and tribal youth to implement tobacco control and prevention education activities, curriculums, and cultural educational opportunities into schools, organizations, and/or communities in South Dakota.

There are three categories of awards:

• Curriculum implementation that may include the purchase of materials, supplies for lessons, and/or facilitator time to prep/implement lessons
• Educational activities that implement activities from the South Dakota Youth Tobacco Prevention Toolkit or other educational awareness campaigns
• Cultural education opportunities that may include building and providing education on a Cansasa Garden, educating youth on traditional tobacco, or hosting cultural events

Eligible applicants include public, private, and tribal schools, school-affiliated programs, afterschool programs, and nonprofit community-based organizations and groups.

Applicants must not accept funds from any tobacco company or affiliated companies or groups. Individuals or organizations with a conflict of interest, including but not limited to those directly or indirectly affiliated with the promotion and/or distribution of tobacco products and materials, are not eligible for funding.

Award ceiling: $5,000
Award floor: $500
Project period: October 19, 2026 - April 30, 2027
