Jul 10, 2024 - Announces funding awarded to the Full Plates Full Potential program in Maine and the Illinois Public Health Institute. The Maine program will help schools overcome the barriers to purchasing Maine-based foods for their school meal programs, and the Illinois grant will support the Lake Michigan Region School Food System, which includes Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin.

Jul 5, 2024 - Describes process by which Randolph County, Illinois used grant funding to transform part of an underused county-owned nursing home into a behavioral health center. The county held stakeholder meetings to address initial opposition among community members and created a consensus around development of a center.

Jul 1, 2024 - Nonprofit organization Teen Turf and the Ogle County Health Department in Illinois have partnered to create 4 rural mini food centers, where food is available 24/7. Funding for the project came from a 3-year grant providing $500,000 each year, and also supports education, a community garden, and gardening classes in collaboration with University of Illinois Extension.

Jun 12, 2024 - The U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Rural Business-Cooperative Service (RBS) is accepting applications for the Delta Health Care Services (DHCS) grant program for fiscal year 2024. The purpose of the program is to address the unmet healthcare needs in the Delta Region through cooperation among health care professionals, institutions of higher education, research institutions, and economic development entities in the region. Applications are due by August 12, 2024.
