Provides educational pipeline programs that address the
development and retention of the Illinois health workforce.

Illinois Center for Rural Health
Serves as the State Office of Rural Health (SORH) for Illinois and works to improve access to primary healthcare in rural and
underserved areas in the state. Provides consultation and technical assistance to community-based organizations, serves as an information clearinghouse on rural health issues, and administers scholarship programs for students in the health
Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network
Consists of member hospitals including rural and Critical
Access Hospitals (CAHs). Oversees the ICAHN Rural
Recruitment program, which addresses the healthcare
workforce needs in Illinois' rural communities. Oversees
the Supporting Onboarding and Retention of Rural Nurses
Nurse Residency Program (SOAR-RN), which supports newly
licensed rural nurses' transition to practice.
Illinois Department of Human Services
Provides community health and prevention programs. Includes
programs for persons with developmental disabilities,
mental illness, or substance abuse problems. Oversees
programs for medical assistance, healthy child, WIC,
migrant head start, refugee and immigrant services, school
health, employment, and other family services for
Illinois Department of Public Health
Works to promote the health of residents through the
prevention and control of disease and injury. Oversees
numerous programs including the licensing of health
facilities, the Allied Health Care Scholarship Program and
the Illinois Center for Rural Health.
Illinois EMS Association
Supports EMS providers and first responders in Illinois by offering resources, networking opportunities, training opportunities, consulting services, information on grants and scholarships, and more.
Illinois Health and Hospital Association
Works to advocate and support hospitals and health systems
throughout Illinois. Includes community, safety net,
teaching, rural, critical access, and specialty hospitals.
Oversees the small and rural hospitals constituency
section which represents 88 hospitals throughout Illinois.
Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs
Works to improve the quality of life in rural areas.
Develops public-private partnerships with local agencies on
community development projects in rural areas. Oversees the
Rural Economic Technical Assistance Center (RETAC) and the
Illinois Rural Transit Assistance Center (RTAC). Located at
Western Illinois University.
Illinois Primary Health Care Association
Represents Illinois' community health centers (CHCs). Works
to increase access to high-quality, cost-effective, primary
healthcare services in underserved communities and
high-risk populations throughout Illinois.
Illinois Public Health Association
Works to improve the health of Illinois' residents.
Offers legislative updates, educational conferences,
workshops, seminars, and networking and
leadership opportunities for its members.
Illinois Telehealth Network
Works to improve healthcare access by developing telemedicine services for rural and underserved populations in Illinois. Offers support via training, technical assistance, resource sharing and collaboration, and more.
National Center for Rural Health Professions
Dedicated to meeting healthcare needs of rural Illinois residents, through projects involving multiple health professions. Emphasizes recruitment, retention, and healthcare delivery initiatives. Located on the campus of the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford.
North Central Regional Center for Rural Development
One of four regional rural development centers in the U.S.
that works with extension professionals, researchers, and
partners to enhance rural development outcomes. Serves a 12-state area in the North Central region which includes North
Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Minnesota, Iowa,
Missouri, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio.
Coordinates private and public leadership efforts for
community and economic development throughout rural
Illinois. Maintains collaborative relationships with local,
state, and federal agencies.
Telligen QI Connect
A Quality Innovation Network-Quality Improvement Organization (QIN-QIO) working to make healthcare safer, more accessible, and more cost-effective in Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, and Oklahoma.
Upper Midwest Telehealth Resource Center
One of the telehealth resource centers funded by the
federal Office for the Advancement of Telehealth (OAT).
Assists healthcare organizations, healthcare networks, and
healthcare providers in the implementation of
cost-effective telehealth programs to serve rural and
medically underserved areas and populations. Includes
Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, and Ohio.
