Michigan Area Health Education Center
Works to improve access to primary and preventive care by
recruiting, training, and retaining health professionals in
medically underserved and health professional shortage
areas. Provides clinical training opportunities for health
students, provides continuing education programs for health
professionals, and prepares disadvantaged youth for
healthcare careers. Comprised of 5 regional AHEC
Michigan Center for Rural Health
Serves as the State Office of Rural Health (SORH) in Michigan. Supports the development of partnerships among nonprofits, health departments, hospitals, government, and academia to create new opportunities in quality of care, recruitment and retention of healthcare providers, distance education, and emergency medical services (EMS).
Michigan Health & Hospital Association
Represents community hospitals in Michigan including
Critical Access Hospitals (CAHs), public, teaching, and
long-term acute care hospitals. Works to provide quality
patient care and healthcare services. Includes the Michigan
Small or Rural Hospital Council.
Michigan Oral Health Coalition
Works to improve oral health in Michigan by focusing on
prevention, health promotion, oral health data, access, and
the link between oral health and overall health. Oversees
many programs which provide dental care to rural,
underserved, and underinsured individuals including free
clinics, community dental clinics, and donated dental
Michigan Rural Development Council
Addresses rural issues in Michigan, promotes rural
development, and advocates for projects and policies that
impact rural Michigan. Formed from the merger of two
organizations, the Rural Partners of Michigan and the
Michigan Rural Network.
North Central Regional Center for Rural Development
One of four regional rural development centers in the U.S.
that works with extension professionals, researchers, and
partners to enhance rural development outcomes. Serves a 12-state area in the North Central region which includes North
Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Minnesota, Iowa,
Missouri, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio.
Northern Michigan University Center for Rural Health
(NMU Center for Rural Health)
Works to improve the health of Michigan's Upper Peninsula residents by focusing on access, affordability, and quality of healthcare for rural citizens. Collaborates with other entities within the Northern Michigan University Center for Rural Health Network.
Upper Midwest Telehealth Resource Center
One of the telehealth resource centers funded by the
federal Office for the Advancement of Telehealth (OAT).
Assists healthcare organizations, healthcare networks, and
healthcare providers in the implementation of
cost-effective telehealth programs to serve rural and
medically underserved areas and populations. Includes
Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, and Ohio.
