Works to provide communities throughout Indiana with health care professionals through recruitment, education, and retention. Located within the IN University of Medicine Department of Family Medicine. Oversees eight regional AHECs in the state. Publishes health workforce studies and reports.

Provides information on critical access hospitals, rural health clinics, and emergency preparedness. The association is the gateway to the Indiana Statewide Rural Health Network (InSRHN), Indiana Telehealth Network (ITN), and the Indiana Rural Workforce Innovation Network (IRWIN).
