Jan 12, 2021 - The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) announced 26 research grants to explore healthcare delivery during the COVID-19 pandemic. The projects focus on areas such as the increased use of telehealth, best practices in rural care settings, emergency management in hospitals, addressing critical barriers to effective pandemic response in hospitals that care for vulnerable populations, and improving clinician and patient safety.

Jan 11, 2021 - The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) awarded $8 million to fund the Telehealth Broadband Pilot (TBP) program, which assesses broadband capacity available to rural healthcare providers to improve access to telehealth services in their communities. $6.5 million was awarded to the National Telehealth Technology Assessment Resource Center (TTAC) and $1.5 million was awarded to the Telehealth-Focused Rural Health Research Center through the University of Arkansas.

Jan 11, 2021 - Notice from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Rural Business-Cooperative Service (RBS), Rural Housing Service (RHS), and Rural Utilities Service (RUS) to provide application requirements for funding reserved under the Strategic Economic and Community Development (SECD) priority program. USDA is implementing SECD in fiscal year 2021 through reserving funds from the covered program and is giving priority to projects implementing strategic community investment plans through select Rural Development programs.

Dec 30, 2020 - The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) extended the Community Health Access and Rural Transformation (CHART) Model Community Transformation Track application deadline to March 16, 2021. The Community Transformation Track will provide funding to up to 15 rural communities to design systems of care that improve access to high quality care that is sustainable and value-based.

Dec 10, 2020 - The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is seeking comments on an information collection related to the OneRD Guaranteed Loan Program. This program will combine the following existing program under one regulatory platform: 1) The Community Facilities Program; 2) the Water and Waste Disposal Program; 3) the Business and Industry Program; and 4) the Rural Energy for America Program. USDA Rural Development has revised the forms in this burden package to accommodate all four programs. Comments are due by January 11, 2021.

Dec 7, 2020 - The U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Rural Business-Cooperative Service invites applications for the Intermediary Relending Program (IRP) for fiscal year 2021. IRP provides direct loans to intermediaries for the establishment of revolving loan programs for the purpose of providing loans to ultimate recipients for business facilities and community developments in rural areas. Applications are accepted on a continuous basis and compete for available funds on a quarterly basis.

Dec 7, 2020 - The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) announced that the results of the Rural Digital Opportunity Fund Phase I auction show bidders won funding to deploy high-speed broadband to over 5.2 million unserved homes and businesses in rural America. Rural residents in 49 states and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands will gain access to high-speed Internet service through the auction.

Nov 25, 2020 - Notice from USDA's Rural Business-Cooperative Service of funding available through the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) prior to the passage of final appropriations for FY 2021. The two specific grant programs included in the announcement are: 1) Renewable Energy Systems, Energy Efficiency Improvements and Energy Efficient Equipment and Systems Assistance, and 2) Energy Audit and Renewable Energy Development Assistance Grants. Deadlines are included in this notice, based upon funding amount requested for each of the grant programs. The final total amount of funding available through the REAP program will be published on the USDA Rural Development website at a later date.
