Aug 6, 2020 - The Health and Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) awarded $101 million to 116 organizations in 42 states to combat substance use disorders (SUD) and opioid use disorders (OUD). $89 million of the funding will benefit 89 rural organizations as part of the Rural Communities Opioid Response Program-Implementation (RCORP-Implementation).

Jul 14, 2020 - Notice of final rule from the United States Department of Agriculture's Rural Utilities Service, Rural Housing Service, and Rural Business-Cooperative Service to create a single common platform to deliver four guaranteed loan programs: Community Facilities (CF) administered by the Rural Housing Service; Water and Waste Disposal (WWD) administered by the Rural Utilities Service; and, Business and Industry (B&I) and Rural Energy for America (REAP), administered by the Rural Business-Cooperative Service. The OneRD Guaranteed loan platform will help the agencies improve the customer experience by streamlining processing for similar loan programs, reducing complexities, and improving cross-program coordination for the loan programs. This rule is effective October 1, 2020 and comments are due on September 14, 2020.

Jun 30, 2020 - The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) directed unused funds from previous years of the Rural Health Care Program to carry forward to satisfy funding year 2020 demand for the program. An additional $197 million will now support healthcare providers' access to broadband, totaling over $802 million available for the 2020 funding year.

Jun 22, 2020 - The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced its investment of $1.6 billion to build and improve rural infrastructure in 21 states. The USDA is providing loans and loan guarantees to rural electric cooperatives and utilities through the Electric Loan Program.
