Extending Access to Care Across the Rural US South: Preliminary Results from the Alabama eHealth Programme
Describes Alabama eHealth, a community-based initiative of Medical Advocacy and Outreach (MAO) that provides telehealth services to rural residents living with HIV. Discusses staff interviews describing barriers and successes to implementing the program. Evaluates the effectiveness and sustainability of the program by tracking patient appointment completion rates, CD4 counts, and viral loads. Table 1 provides an overview of Alabama eHealth affiliates and their roles in providing telehealth services.

Suboptimal Geographic Accessibility to Comprehensive HIV Care in the US: Regional and Urban–Rural Differences
Discusses access to HIV care facilities in urban and rural areas based on travel distance to care sites. Analyzes national data to determine average driving time to care sites and percentage of people living with HIV who have a drive time of greater than 30 minutes. Figure 1 offers a map of the contiguous U.S. representing HIV care sites and the population living with HIV/AIDS by county based on 2014 data.

Diagnoses of HIV Infection Among Adults and Adolescents in Metropolitan Statistical Areas-United States and Puerto Rico, 2017
Presents data on HIV infection diagnoses in 2017 and the prevalence of adults and adolescents living with diagnosed HIV infection at year-end 2016 residing in metropolitan and nonmetropolitan areas in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. Nonmetropolitan data is included at the end of each table, after all the Metropolitan Statistical Areas are listed. Nonmetro data is available on HIV infection diagnoses in adults and adolescents by sex, sex and age, sex and race/ethnicity, sex and transmission category, and race/ethnicity and transmission category.
