Module 2: Evidence-Based and Promising Rural Mobile Healthcare Program Models

Rural communities are using innovative mobile healthcare programs to address access and transportation barriers. These programs deliver care directly to people in their community, which helps expand access to healthcare services, reduce utilization of emergency resources, and improve health and well-being. Using evidence-based and promising approaches such as home visits, mobile units, and telehealth, mobile health professionals can identify medication errors, environmental risks, or problems that may be missed in a traditional clinical or healthcare setting.

Rural communities may combine different practices or implement more than one practice to meet their unique needs and the needs of their communities.
