Faculty Loan Repayment Program
Loan repayment for individuals from economically or geographically vulnerable backgrounds who agree to serve as faculty at eligible health professions schools for a minimum of 2 years.

Scholarships for Disadvantaged Students (SDS)
Funding designed to increase the health professions and nursing workforce by providing awards to eligible health professions schools for use in awarding scholarships to students from disadvantaged backgrounds who have a financial need. The program goal is to strengthen the health professions and nursing workforce by supporting students from disadvantaged backgrounds who are more likely to practice in primary care and in rural and medically vulnerable communities.

Medical Student Education Program
Grants for public medical schools to expand or support education for medical students preparing to become physicians in states with primary care provider shortages. The program focus is on supporting careers in primary care in rural and other areas with a primary care provider shortage.

Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) Training and Mentoring
Training to provide medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) for clinicians in high-need communities. Clinicians who complete the training may be priority applicants for some NHSC loan repayment programs.

Substance Use Disorder Treatment and Recovery Loan Repayment Program (STAR LRP) Site Activation
Apply to be an approved Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Treatment and Recovery Loan Repayment Program site to receive assistance with recruitment and retention of qualified SUD clinicians and paraprofessionals.

Grants to States to Support Oral Health Workforce Activities Inactive
Offers funding to states to develop and implement programs that address the oral health workforce needs of designated Dental Health Professional Shortage Areas.

Nurse Education, Practice, Quality, and Retention - Transition to Practice Program (NEPQR-TPP) Inactive
Funding to support innovative educational and clinical training opportunities, thus increasing the nursing workforce and addressing the nursing shortage in rural and medically vulnerable communities.

Regional Public Health Training Centers Program Inactive
Grants to support Public Health Training Centers that offer student traineeships, field placements, technical assistance, and targeted training designed to increase and strengthen the supply of a high-quality public health workforce professionals for rural and medically vulnerable communities.

Nurse Faculty Loan Program (NFLP) Inactive
Funding for accredited schools of nursing to establish and/or operate a student loan fund. Grantees will loan money to students, and up to 85% of each loan may be forgiven upon completion of up to 4 years of full-time employment as a faculty member in an accredited school of nursing.

Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award Institutional Research Training Grant (NRSA) Inactive
Funding to support the training of postdoctoral researchers in biomedical, behavioral, and health services research advancing scientific knowledge in primary care. Rural communities and populations with limited access to care and services are a research area priority.
