A regional economic development agency that represents a partnership of federal, state, and local government. Supports the economic and social development throughout West Virginia and parts of 12 other states: Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. Includes grants and funding, research, data, and maps.

Focuses on underserved rural areas of the U.S., including the predominantly white Appalachia region, predominantly African American Mississippi Delta region, and heavily Hispanic areas of the West.
