Appalachian Region Healthcare Technical Assistance Center Assistance
Technical assistance for Appalachian healthcare providers and communities. Eligible organizations may receive guidance and funding to launch or enhance critical needed service lines.

Medical Student Education Program
Grants for public medical schools to expand or support education for medical students preparing to become physicians in states with primary care provider shortages. The program focus is on supporting careers in primary care in rural and other areas with a primary care provider shortage.

Delta Region Innovative Readiness Training Medical Missions
An opportunity to host a U.S. Department of Defense readiness training mission to bring medical, dental, and optical care to rural communities in the Delta Region.

Weyerhaeuser Giving Fund
Funds programs that work in the areas of affordable housing and shelter, education and youth development, environmental stewardship, workforce, and human services within the Weyerhaeuser Company Foundation service area.

Alabama Advanced Practice Loan Repayment Program
Loan repayment assistance for Alabama residents who are either: (1) Enrolled full-time in accredited nursing education programs approved by the Alabama Board of Nursing and pursuing graduate degrees to become certified registered nurse practitioners (CRNPs), certified nurse midwives (CNMs), or certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs); or (2) Currently-approved CRNPs, CNMs, or CRNAs who graduated from such a program within the previous 5 years.

Alabama AHEC Scholars Program
A multidisciplinary certificate program for certain health professions students in Alabama that offers opportunities for hands-on training, experience in rural and underserved communities, and networking with other students and professionals.

Alabama Board of Medical Scholarship Awards
Forgivable loans for students enrolled in an Alabama medical school who agree to practice primary care in a pre-approved community in Alabama upon graduation.

Alabama J-1 Visa Waiver Program
Offers a J-1 Visa waiver to foreign physicians who commit to serving for 3 years in an approved area of Alabama, allowing them to remain in the United States.

Alabama Rural Medical Service Award
Service payback loans for Alabama licensed primary care physicians (PCPs) and certified family medicine nurse practitioners (NPs) in return for their practicing in eligible Alabama communities that have a shortage of PCPs.

Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) J-1 Visa Waiver Program
Offers a J-1 Visa waiver to foreign physicians who commit to serving for 3 years in rural Appalachian areas, allowing them to remain in the United States.
