Great Plains Telehealth Resource and Assistance Center
One of the telehealth resource centers funded by the
federal Office for the Advancement of Telehealth. Assists
healthcare organizations, networks, and providers in the
implementation of cost-effective telehealth programs to
serve rural and medically underserved areas and
populations. Includes North Dakota, South Dakota,
Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Nebraska.
North Central Regional Center for Rural Development
One of four regional rural development centers in the U.S.
that works with extension professionals, researchers, and
partners to enhance rural development outcomes. Serves a 12-state area in the North Central region which includes North
Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Minnesota, Iowa,
Missouri, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio.
Rural Wisconsin Health Cooperative
Offers programs and services to healthcare organizations
throughout Wisconsin. Operated by 44 rural acute, general
medical-surgical hospitals. Works to support and enhance
rural health and quality of care, with an emphasis on
developing integrated networks among freestanding rural
University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute
Works to advance health and well-being in policy and
practice at local, state, and national levels by
evaluating interventions and promoting evidence-based
methodologies. Provides county data and resources focused
on rural health issues in Wisconsin.
Wisconsin Academy for Rural Medicine
Consists of a rural education program within the Doctor of
Medicine program at the University of Wisconsin School of
Medicine and Public Health in Madison. Aims to develop the
skills of medical students who wish to participate in a
rural setting and improve the supply of physicians in rural
Wisconsin Area Health Education Center System
Works to improve the supply, distribution, and quality of
healthcare professionals in Wisconsin. Develops
community-based health professions training programs.
Oversees the seven regional Area Health Education Centers
(AHECs) in Wisconsin, which are the Northwest, Northern
Highland, Northeast, Milwaukee and Southeast, South
Central, Scenic Rivers, and North Central.
Wisconsin Community Action Program Association
Serves as the voluntary association of the 16 Community
Action Agencies (CAAs) and two special purpose agencies
in Wisconsin. Promotes the development of resources that
support their anti-poverty missions. Includes the Community
Development Services (CDS) program, which provides
education, training, and technical assistance to rural
Wisconsin Dental Association
Works to improve the oral health of Wisconsin residents.
Supports projects and programs that provide oral healthcare
services for disadvantaged populations, including Mission
of Mercy, Mentoring Program, and Donated Dental Services.
Wisconsin EMS Association
Represents and supports emergency medical services (EMS)
throughout Wisconsin. Oversees testing, certification, and
license renewals. Provides continuing education, resources,
and legislative advocacy.
Wisconsin Geriatric Education Center
Acts as a consortium of academic and healthcare
organizations that works to develop and implement training
for healthcare professionals, faculty, students, and
practitioners to meet the needs of Wisconsin geriatric
Wisconsin Hospital Association
Works to provide quality healthcare services and
initiatives to Wisconsin communities. Offers education
and training opportunities. Sponsors the annual Wisconsin
Rural Health Conference that examines issues that impact
small and rural hospitals throughout the state.
Wisconsin Office of Rural Health
Supports rural healthcare delivery in Wisconsin by
providing education, resources, events, and services. Works
closely with individual rural communities and rural
hospitals to support their rural health activities.
Wisconsin Primary Health Care Association
Represents a statewide network of community and migrant
health centers. Works to provide access to
community-oriented primary healthcare services including
patient centered medical homes, quality improvement, and

Serves as a network of Wisconsin public and private sector
partners. Works to promote a network for rural community
support, develop strong rural leaders, and build rural
Wisconsin Technology Council
Provides policy guidance on broadband and technology to lawmakers, the governor, state agencies, and other institutions in Wisconsin. Networks through the Wisconsin Innovation Network (WIN), a community-based organization dedicated to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship.
