First Responders - Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act Grants (FR-CARA)
Funding to train first responders and communities in administering and distributing opioid overdose reversal medications. Funding is set aside for recipients serving rural and tribal communities.

Garrett Lee Smith (GLS) Campus Suicide Prevention Grant Program
Funding to identify college students who are at risk for suicide and suicide attempts, increase protective factors that promote mental health, reduce risk factors for substance use disorders and suicide, and ultimately reduce suicides and suicide attempts.

Medical Forensic Access Initiative
Funding for projects that support states, tribal communities, healthcare systems, or community-based organizations in collecting, analyzing, and reporting information related to access to medical forensic examinations for women and girl survivors of sexual assault. Rural and other communities impacted by forensic healthcare access gaps are a program priority.

Medication-Assisted Treatment - Prescription Drug and Opioid Addiction (MAT-PDOA)
Grants to expand and enhance access to medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD); increase access to treatment and recovery for individuals with opioid use disorder (OUD); and decrease illicit opioid use, prescription opioid misuse, and overdose. Working with rural and resource-limited communities is listed as a required activity.

Mental Health Awareness Training Grants
Grants to prepare and train school personnel, emergency first responders, law enforcement, and community-based agency staff on how to appropriately and safely recognize and respond to individuals with mental disorders. Rural applicants have been awarded grants in the past, and up to 3 awards will be made to tribes/tribal organizations pending sufficient application volume.

Promoting the Integration of Primary and Behavioral Health Care: States
Funding to improve the health outcomes for people with behavioral health conditions by supporting the adoption and improvement of integrated care models for behavioral and primary physical health at the state level. Tribal, rural, and other medically underserved communities are a program priority. Program eligibility is limited to states and state agencies; however, states must partner at least 1 qualified community program, community mental health center, Rural Health Clinic, or Federally Qualified Health Center.

Rural Communities Opioid Response Program - Technical Assistance (RCORP-TA)
Funding for a single entity to connect rural communities with high-quality, comprehensive, and tailored resources and supports to implement and sustain behavioral healthcare, including prevention, treatment, and recovery services, to address the opioid epidemic and related substance use concerns in rural areas.

Rural Hospital Provider Assistance Program
Direct financial assistance for rural hospitals facing structural payment disadvantages with the goal of maintenance of healthcare providers, which will in turn maintain essential health services and prevent avoidable hospital closures.

Scholarships for Disadvantaged Students (SDS)
Funding designed to increase the health professions and nursing workforce by providing awards to eligible health professions schools for use in awarding scholarships to students from disadvantaged backgrounds who have a financial need. The program goal is to strengthen the health professions and nursing workforce by supporting students from disadvantaged backgrounds who are more likely to practice in primary care and in rural and medically vulnerable communities.

Scaling Evidence-Based Falls Prevention Programs
Funding to help communities reduce falls and/or falls risk among older adults and adults with disabilities through the implementation of evidence-based falls prevention programs. Projects must engage populations age 60 and older, prioritizing those with the greatest social and economic need, including rural areas.
