Primary Care Training and Enhancement-Community Prevention and Maternal Health Inactive
Grants to train primary care physicians in maternal healthcare clinical services or population health in order to improve maternal health outcomes. The program is designed to increase the number of primary care physicians trained in public health and general preventive medicine with maternal healthcare expertise and the number of primary care physicians trained in enhanced obstetrical care practicing in rural and/or underserved areas.

Nursing Workforce Diversity Program Inactive
Funding to assist students from disadvantaged backgrounds in becoming registered nurses using evidence-based strategies to support nursing students from enrollment through graduation. The purpose is to expand and support a workforce to provide quality, culturally-aligned care to rural and underserved communities in need.

State/Tribal/Territorial Partnership Initiative to Document and Sustain Disparity-Reducing Interventions Inactive
Grants for projects to demonstrate if modifications to existing evidence-informed interventions for specific health issues will improve health outcomes for racial and ethnic minority and disadvantaged populations.

Advanced Nursing Education Nurse Practitioner Residency Integration Program Inactive
Grants to prepare new nurse practitioners for primary care or behavioral health practice in integrated, community-based settings, through expansions and/or enhancements to existing 12-month Nurse Practitioner Residency (NPR) programs. Priority is given to projects that benefit rural and underserved populations.

Addressing Racial Disparities in Maternal Mortality and Morbidity (R01 Clinical Trial Optional) Inactive
Funding for research to examine mechanisms underlying racial and ethnic disparities in maternal mortality and morbidity and/or testing the efficacy of interventions to reduce these disparities.

Rural Health Integration Models for Parents and Children to Thrive Inactive
Funding for a single entity to identify and support 3 demonstration sites through intensive technical assistance and training, as well as provide universal technical assistance to the Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting and Early Childhood Comprehensive Systems Programs. A significant focus of the program is on improving early identification of and intervention for families, with children ages birth to 3, who have experienced or are at-risk for adverse childhood experiences, maternal depression, other mental health issues, substance use disorders including opioid use, as well as other factors that lead to poor health and social outcomes for rural families.
