Dissemination Audiences

Different audiences may be interested in learning about results and best practices from the health promotion and disease prevention program.

Potential audiences for rural health promotion and disease prevention programs may include:

  • Community planners and implementers
  • General public
  • Elected officials and policymakers
  • Healthcare professionals
  • Public health practitioners
  • Researchers

When identifying potential audiences, rural organizations should consider the needs, characteristics, and interests of the individual or organization. For example, public health practitioners may seek out scientific, peer-reviewed evidence from programs, whereas elected officials and policymakers may be more interested in hearing “real world” stories from the community.

For more information on common rural audiences and dissemination considerations, see Audiences and Communication Strategies in the Rural Community Health Toolkit.
