Oral health is an integral component of an individual's health and well-being. Research demonstrates that poor
oral health is related to a range of diseases. Access to oral healthcare services and having routine
examinations can help to improve oral health and prevent disease. Rural communities experience disparities
related to access to care, utilization of services, and outcomes in oral health. This module provides an
overview of oral health in rural America.
