Nutrition Assistance

Nutrition assistance helps provide food resources to families with low incomes, children, and vulnerable adults.

  • The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) provides food-purchasing assistance to families with low incomes. Program participants receive SNAP benefits on Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards each month.
  • Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is a supplemental nutrition program for pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum women and their children up to age five. WIC participants receive food supplements, nutrition education and counseling from WIC staff, and screening and referrals to other health services.
  • Meals on Wheels provides older adults with nutritious meals, companionship, and a connection to the community. Meals are delivered directly to seniors' homes, senior centers, and community facilities.
  • The School Breakfast Program and the National School Lunch Program are federally-assisted programs that help ensure that all children have access to nutritional and affordable meals at school. Participating schools receive cash subsidies from the United States Department of Agriculture for meals served. Schools must serve meals that meet federal requirements and offer reduced price or free meals to eligible children.
