Module 6: Funding, Resources, and Support for Rural Emergency Preparedness and Response

Funding, resources, and support are central to successful rural emergency preparedness, response, and recovery. The timing of funding, coordination of resources, and level of support that communities receive can have a significant impact on recovery efforts and outcomes. Communities affected by an emergency or disaster event often receive post-disaster funding to support recovery. But, pre-disaster investments are equally if not more important for ensuring rural recovery and resilience.

For an overview of how to plan for the sustainability of your program as well as strategies that would apply to any type of program, see Planning for Sustainability in the Rural Community Health Toolkit.
