Mountain West AETC ECHO Project

  • Project Title: Mountain West AETC Project ECHO
  • Program Representative Interviewed: Natalia Martinez-Paz, Program Manager
  • Location: Seattle, WA (catchment area: WA, AK, MT, ID, OR, CO, ND, SD, UT, WY)
  • Program Overview: Modeled after Project ECHO®, the Mountain West AIDS Education and Training Center hosts weekly interactive video conferences that connect providers in rural and underserved areas with HIV expert knowledge and support. Participating multidisciplinary care teams and providers interact with HIV specialists, gain expertise in care for people living with HIV, and receive real-time recommendations and guidance for their cases. Through this model, participants develop relationships with their peers across the ECHO network, building capacity on the ground through a peer-to-peer network. The Mountain West AETC provides continuing education credits for physicians, nurses, psychologists, and social workers via the University of Washington.
