  • Program Representative Interviewed: Ann Lewis, Chief Executive Officer
  • Location: Hartsville, South Carolina
  • Program Overview: CareSouth Carolina (CSC) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that provides primary care, dental, behavioral health, and pharmacy services across 12 locations in 5 counties in South Carolina. CSC primarily serves low-income, uninsured, and underinsured patients.

At each CSC location, patients have access to licensed counselors who provide mental health counseling, behavioral therapy, and substance use disorder (SUD) treatment. The behavioral health team consists of licensed clinical social workers and professional counselors who specialize in support for individuals facing substance use dependency, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, and grief.

CSC's Reaching Out and Delivering Services (ROADS) mobile health initiative provides essential healthcare services to communities in Marion, Hartsville, and Chesterfield, South Carolina, through three fully equipped mobile medical units. Freedom ROADS is a specialized branch of this program that offers medication for SUD treatment in collaboration with regional addiction treatment agencies.
